For us especially important was the ability of the Stockholm School of Economics to adapt teaching modules to the needs of our company. A great role was also played by an opportunity of active interaction by participants in the teaching process. Company specialists were enabled to better understand problems of related departments and this will definitely allow to improve the overall performance in future.
We hope that the results of diploma theses will be successfully implemented and we will reach target indicators in the process of company reformation.

For two years you feel yourself in the mainstream, set yourself higher tasks, develop and introduce knowledge in practice, you find friends who think like you.
Did you ever do sports? What kinds of sport do you prefer: individual or team sports?
In childhood I was enthusiastic about cross-country skiing, but I always dreamed of playing hockey...
You will ask me what this has to do with the Stockholm School of Economics Russia and you probably will be right, but there is an analogy.
Teaching process in the Executive MBA is structured in such a way that students prepare to thematic modules individually by studying the material and doing home assignments. How tasks are checked exactly when stated by the program coordinator. Actually combining work, home and studies students organize their time in such a way so that they could revise the material and send their home tasks on time by pressing ENTER key, penalties for those who do not meet deadlines are very strict.
The School carefully monitors the organizational process: and students top-managers feel themselves sprinters and then stayers who have to jump above their heads in a certain sense, reach a milestone, clear a height, reach, read up, type up, count up before the deadline.
For the Russian mentality this process is a real ordeal, but those who managed to survive these two years transform! Structure in approaches and organization are quite formal things, but they are absolutely essential in business and studies.
And what about team sports, team spirit, etc.? There is more than enough of all this in modules. Before a module students break up into teams and for five days from morning till night they work in a team, and teachers, stimulating and stirring interest in the topic, set up competitions between teams with rewarding places afterwards. In addition to this the teaching process contains various simulations where again leading teams are determined. I avoid calling other teams defeated, as in these competitions absolutely everybody learns and gains invaluable experience, including lecturers!
The Stockholm School of Economics, Russia gives great attention to abilities and skills of working in a team, that is why a sport analogy is appropriate here, however, since the School deals with business education, students top managers in fact find themselves in an environment that imitates a business community or a company where individual actions and leadership qualities should combine with an ability to be a member of a group, team, company.
Actually in such teams and in individual work people gain what they come to SSE for. Some of them get missing knowledge in a certain area (marketing, finance, management strategy, etc.), others deepen the knowledge they possess. In any case with time you realize that business is done between people, and not between companies, as a result you get business relations with people from your group, some participants start a new business together, others unexpectedly find customers among group mates or, the other way round, Inside the group everybody’s competences are clearly defined and people generously share their competences in the form of recommendations, advise, etc. and he horizon expandsи народ!
For two years you feel yourself in the mainstream, set yourself higher tasks, develop and introduce knowledge in practice, you find friends who think like you...
And what about skiing and playing hockey? If you carefully plan your time, you can even play sports. And if there is absolutely no time for that, many lecturers from Sweden like cross country skiing and at least you can discuss sport off-line!

I saw my business and myself in business from a different perspective!
The Stockholm School of Economics, Russia is bright and it brings new colors! Very talented group mates raised my level in work, learning process and definitely in interesting communication! I saw my business and myself in business from a different perspective!
After graduation I became more confident in business, attracted new investments and new ideas, and managed to reorganize processes in the company, which improved effectiveness and profitability! I also succeeded in attracting additional investments and new ideas!

The program allows looking at all business processes from the point of view of the richest experience accumulated by European business schools
When selecting the school a great role for me was played by an acknowledged reputation of SSE and its rich experience, including Russia. It is clear that there is high demand for SSE experience, first of all, from oil industry, a locomotive of the Russian economy.
The new industry required managers who understand principles of western companies in order to compete with them in world markets.
But the main argument was that starting from 2009 SSE can offer Russian companies EMBA program in the Russian language. This unique opportunity to attend lectures of leading European specialists with simultaneous translation is unrivalled in Russia.
The question why I recommend SSE to managers of Russian companies is related to the fact that my expectations coincided with the results of education.
Definitely, the program allows looking at all business processes from the point of view of the richest experience accumulated by European business schools. It helps not to invent the bicycle, but to use useful experience. I think a saying ′′a clever one wants to learn not on his own but others′ mistakes′′ fully characterizes SSE applicants.

I believe one of the advantages of this education is a great community of SSE Russia alumni, as it allows finding the right people in different industries and companies; it simplifies many issues and enables to find contacts practically in any business sphere.
I chose this school not by chance. Our company Oriflame has long relations with the Stockholm School of Economics and we provided active support when a branch in St.Petersburg was opened. Learning was not easy, but the results were good. During my training in Executive MBA I was appointed HR manager for Russia and recently, in February of this year, I was put in charge of all issues related to human resource management in Russia, CIS and Baltic countries, which is quite a high level for such a big company.
As for the program Executive MBA in the Stockholm School of Economics, I got an overview of different business areas, many of them were new to me; I also was able to analyze real situations in companies of my group mates. I believe one of the advantages of this education is a great community of SSE Russia alumni, as it allows finding the right people in different industries and companies; it simplifies many issues and enables to find contacts practically in any business sphere.
Why do I recommend the Stockholm School of Economics? Probably, because it gives western business education, but with examples form Russian practice, and because the quality of education depends on the school history, which in the case of the Stockholm School of Economics is enormous: 100 years in Sweden and 15 in Russia.

I know that the Stockholm School of Economics Russia plans to develop, it has new projects and we will definitely support these undertakings.
When a friend asked me why he should go the Stockholm School of Economics I replied that this is the last opportunity for an accomplished adult to find friends. For me the Stockholm School of Economics, first of all, is a place where I met many interesting people who taught me many things. Secondly, it is an opportunity to feel yourself part of a global world and understand that the company you manage is also an element of the global world. Now I am not involved in business, I work for the state, but I try to use what I learned in SSE: the aim of strategic initiatives we propose to the President of the Russian Federation is for Russia to occupy the right place in the global community. I know that the Stockholm School of Economics Russia plans to develop, it has new projects and we will definitely support these undertakings. When you receive a degree you increase your capitalization, but I would like to wish everyone not only to make money, but to enjoy work and feel yourself needed. I am sure with a degree of the Stockholm School of Economics it will be easier.

During studies I was pleasantly surprised by a systematic way of presenting material and an ability to find a rational point in any point of view.
Russian economy if getting globalized and it is important to have a global view on the existing tasks.
Unfortunately in Russia today there is no our own economics or management school. The market economy in Russia is still at the beginning of its development and there is a lack of adequate management and economic experience.
At the same time answers to those questions have been known for a long time, since the world scientific though was developing in this area for two hundred years, and in the USSR these sciences had third roles. Russian lecturers have some theoretical knowledge, but they do not know how it can be used in practice. Besides, this knowledge is in disintegrated pieces. This knowledge can be quite broad in a specific area, but it does not present a system. Course are not linked to each other, they often have no connecting points. This is like a pile of car parts of not very high quality, some of them are made of gold, but it is not a vehicle. Many parts are made correctly, but you cannot drive it. And does a car need parts made of gold?

Studies in SSE gave me an opportunity, as they say, "to change my mind".
Training in SSE gave me an opportunity, as they say, “to change my mind”. Changing of owner’s mentality happens in three different directions: firstly, you begin understanding that you have the whole arsenal for speaking with managers in common language; secondly, you get practical solutions that you can borrow and implement in the company’s activity; thirdly, you acquire a great network of contacts. When selecting a business school I was looking at the schedule that allows getting part-time education in the English language with highly qualified international lecturers. This is how I chose SSE Russia.
Mamuka Machavariani EMBA General Management Round 4
4 consider SSE as one of the best advanced thinking universities in Europe. SSE Russia is best out of best in Russia no doubt. The University offers true European graduate degree, which give prospective professionals access not only in Russia/Ukraine/CIS market but also in European great job market. I studied in USA and my American friends/classmates know SSE/Sweden/IKEA/Volvo and so very well, SSE give you recognition USA and world job market as well.
That's so great. I could not explain just by words! After graduation SSE helped me efficiently manage my offices in Moscow, Kiev, Tbilisi and Washington DC. After SSE I made definitely career move and wealth fortune, my income increased perpetually at least by 25%, yearly. Most what I achieved also was in private/family life..I am father of 4 children and I am PROUD of IT! At least one of them will be SSE graduate!
Advantages of SSE in Russia: Access to the Russia, CIS, EU and USA job markets; Top listed graduate school at most recognized ranking (FT for example); Western brad thinking; Great brand, great professors, great classmates, great alumni network (still need a lot of work), part of SSE global:just few advantages I can name.
When I choose graduate school most important things were: school brand; networking; Russia is great opportunity market. SSE exceeded my expectation in terms of getting so many things (I named above) within 2-3 years and for just 1/3 price of Volvo.
Just short remainder regarding Harvard Business School "70% out of executive HBS tuition price is NETWORKING". As SSE Alumni active member I'd like insist all SSE brand associated professionals to be twice active to achieve 5 times more success in business and family career!
The process of getting prime education, communicating with outstanding professionals, implementing knowledge into real business and networking were defiantly most interesting during SSE Executive MBA life!
Alexandre Egorov EMBA General Management Round 6
Studying in SSE pushed me seriously towards a decision to change my life and career course.
Despite a quite successful 12-year experience of work for such large international companies as AT&T, Lucent Technologies and Nokia where I was ascending the career ladder very quickly, at a certain moment I understood that very person should necessarily fulfill himself and "find his own way." He should find the cause that he loves infinitely and in which he can express himself fully and disclose his potential. This is not necessarily a managerial highly paid and stable work for a large corporation.
Since my childhood I believed that my path was aviation. However, despite this and higher aviation education and big experience of "amateur" flights at light airplanes, until 35 years old my professional career was connected not with aviation but with telecommunication industry. The stable social position, family and career level achieved by that age did not make me inclined to performance of any risky maneuvers on my life path.
However, having come to SSE in my group I met those who thought in an absolutely different way. The meaning of their lives was not connected with "blind" increase of capital. These were the people who, despite their posts being very high sometimes, their social position and big wealth, were actively opening new horizons for themselves, were testing themselves permanently, learning, growing internally and changing. They were also sharing their energy, experience and knowledge with the people surrounding them actively.
This circumstance created an amazing atmosphere of warmth, friendship and creativity. In this atmosphere my decision to change the post of director for work with key clients of Nokia for the seat of the second pilot of Aeroflot-Russian Airlines grew being facilitated by bright and numerous examples of internal freedom and search in life and, of course, with active support of the colleagues in the group. I have been going to this decision gradually and for a long time but have not dared to make it to date.
Three years already passed since then. They were filled with difficult education, big changes, very interesting experience, meeting with new amazing people and feelings unknown before. I mastered two types of big passenger airliners: Tu154 and Airbus A320. I already do not imagine my life without big aviation. This is a place where I feel well, where I feel myself on the right place, where I am demanded, where I develop and where I am useful for other people.
I think that this is the most important result of my studying in SSE although, of course, it is not the only one.
Work of a crew of a modern airplane is a very hi-tech and sophisticated process that requires not only knowledge of your profession but also ability to make decisions quickly and to resist to stress. The times where undivided authority and professionalism of an airplane commander determined a safe outcome of a flight are gone. Efficient interaction of colleagues in the crew and air company and ability to build a good team where every professional uses his potential to the maximum extent and take an active participation in common work equal to the others became determinants for provision of high safety, quality and regularity of work of commercial aviation. Studying in SSE where the major part of the process was team working gave me invaluable skills of team work and leadership.
Modern aviation is also business that lives according to business laws. An air company like any other company is built proceeding from these laws. Despite that the major part of my working time passes in an airplane cockpit at an altitude of 10,000 meters, sometimes a good pilot is required not only to have good knowledge of flight laws but also understanding of business laws according to which his air company is working. Studying in SSE helped me to obtain such knowledge.
I am very grateful to the students of my group for friendship, warmth and mutual support. Although big changes have happened to many of us since the moment of enlistment in the school and we are sometimes geographically separated and busty, we try to meet regularly. This gives us enormous pleasure and joy that cannot be comparable to anything.
